If you have ever volunteered at the Food Club, you know first-hand just how much plastic we use each day. To make the Food Club an accessible place to shop, we pre-portion our produce in plastic bags. Although this creates more ease for the shopper, one volunteer, in particular, challenged us to reconsider our high consumption of single-use plastic. The Food Club uses over 6,000 produce bags a month, so this small change has a mighty impact! The cost of these compostable is much higher than the single-use plastic we used to purchase, will you join us in making the Food Club a more sustainable place?
